In order to get an Indiana motorcycle endorsement, you either have to take a Rider’s Course or a skills test. If you plan on taking the skills test, here’s what you need to know.
First, you have to provide your own motorcycle. If you borrow a motorcycle, make sure you ride it around and are used to the way it handles before taking the test.
If you want to get your motorcycle endorsement, you need to pass a motorcycle skills test. There are two main options for doing this.
Go to a Local Skills Test - The cheapest and easiest way, though not necessarily the best, is to find a local testing location. RideSafeIndiana.com has a map of all Indiana testing sites with links to times and dates for the testings. To take the test, you must have the following:
A registered street-legal motorcycle
An Indiana driver’s license
Your motorcycle learner’s permit
$10-30 testing fee, depending on location
How Do I Obtain a A Motorcycle Endorsement? (Indiana)
You have a valid driver’s license and you want your motorcycle endorsement. How do you go about it? Here are the basic steps:
Get Your Motorcycle Learner’s Permit - To get your permit, you must take a written motorcycle knowledge exam. In other words, you need to know the rules of the road. This means you need to read (and study) the Indiana Motorcycle Operators Manual. You can obtain a copy at your local BMV or from www.ridesafeindiana.com. We (Hayden Honda) also keep copies on hand for customers.
